Daley and Aldridge win World Series Gold

DivingDiving bronze for Synchro youngstersTom Daley and Blake Aldridge won a Gold medal in the 10m synchronised platform diving at the Fina Diving World Series in Sheffield, England.

Thomas Finchum and David Alasdair Boudia of the United States won the Silver, while Cubans Jose Guerra and Eric Fornaris took Bronze. Konstantin Khanbekov and Oleg Vikulov of Russia had been in medal contention they were given a failure for an incomplete dive.

Athens 2004 Olympic silver medallists duo Peter Waterfield and Leon Taylor did not compete as Taylor (who is Daleys mentor) is recovering from injury. They will hope to contest an eliminator at the Olympic trials in Leeds on 21-22 June. But Daley and Aldridge must now be favourites to take the Olympic place.

The 10m synchronised platform diving takes place on the 11th August 2008.
