Britain's Men win Europa Cup and Women finish third

AthleticsGreat Britain's Men won the Athletics World Championships in Annecy, France.

Phillips Idowu won the triple jump, Marlon Devonish won the 200m, Andy Baddeley won 3,000m, Tyrone Edgar won the 100m, Martyn Rooney won the 400m double, Mo Farah won the 5,000m and the men's 4x100m relay team also won.

The Women's team finished third behind France and Ukraine.

Nicola Sanders won the 400m and Jenny Meadows won the 800m. Jade Johnson was second in the long jump with a personal best of 6.81m. Christine Ohuruogu, in the 200m and Kate Reed in 5,000m also finished in second.

Flatwater Canoe Team for Beijing 2008

Team GB for Beijing 2008Canoe/Kayak - FlatwaterThe British Olympic Association (BOA) have selected the Canoe/Kayak - Flatwater members of Team GB for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Flatwater canoeist Tim Brabants will compete in the 500m and 1000m K1 events at Beijing. The Sydney bronze medallist is the current European champion.

EquestrianZara Phillips withdraws from Eventing TeamZara Philips, the European Eventing Champion has withdrawn from the Olympic Team due to an injury to her horse Toytown.

The Equestrian Eventing competition completes on the 12th August in Hong Kong.

Richard Faulds wins World Cup Gold

ShootingRichard Faulds win Double Trap GoldRichard Faulds won the Gold Medal in the Men's Double Trap at the at the World Cup in Suhl, Germany.

Britain’s Richard Faulds won his second World Cup medal of 2008, equalling the World Record of 147 in the Qualification Round of the Men's Double Trap in Suhl, Germany. A final round of 46 kept him ahead of Binyaun Hu of China, adding the Gold Medal to the Silver he won in Kerrville last month.

The Olympic Trap Shooting is on 12 August 2008

Helen Tucker Becomes Triathlon World Champion TriathlonGreat Britain's Helen Tucker became World Champion at the Triathlon World Championship in Vancouver, Canada.

Helen Tucker and American Sarah Haskins were involved in a sprint finish to determine the winner, after leading the race throughout the bike and run phases. Last year's World champion, Vanessa Fernandes, finished tenth.

Jessica Ennis injury halts Beijing hopes

AthleticsAn injuryto pentathlete Jessica Ennis will prevent her Olympic particpatation. Compatriat Kelly Sotherton, the Athens 2004 bronze medallist will be one of the favourites for the Pentathlon following the withdrawl of Athhens 2004 gold medallist, Carolina Kluft of Sweden.

Day 8The Women's Pentathlon takes place on the 15th and 16th August.
