Month End Number of Posts per Olympic sport

We got news from Sportsworld about the second batch of tickets on 10th January, but had to submit for the next batch for the 24th. Again we got around half the tickets we wanted!

British divers get their opportunity to achieve qualification for Beijing at the World cup event in Beijing from 19-24 February.

Ainslie wins World Championship Gold

Ainslie wins Finn Gold CupSailingDouble Olympic champion, Ben Ainslie, secured his fifth Finn world championship at the Finn Gold Cup in Melbourne, Australia.

Ben Ainslie secured the win with a second placing in the medal race, consisting of the top ten sailors from the previous nine races. Ainslie had lead New Zealander by just one point at the start of the day.

Cook wins Bronze in Olympic Qualification Tournament

Olympic place for Aaron CookSailingAaaron Cook secured a quota pace in the Taekwondo at the European Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey.

Louise Mair, from Elgin, missed out on qualification by one point as she was beaten in her bronze medal match of the -49kg category, by the German Sumeyye Gulec.

Qualifiers in the Men's -80kg category

1st : Bahri Tanrikuku (Turkey)
2nd : Rashad Ahmadov (Azerbaijan)
3rd : Aaron Cook (Great Britain)

The Taekwondo Men’s -80kg category takes place on 22nd August 2008.

Robinson wins quota place for Team GB

Olympic place for Tyrone RobinsonSailingTyrone Robinson secured a quota pace in the Taekwondo at the European Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey.

Qualifiers in the Men’s -58kg category

1st : Pedro Miguel Moreira Povoa (Portugal)
2nd : Tyrone Robinson (Great Britain)
3rd : Juan Antonio Ramos Sanchez (Spain)

The Taekwondo Men’s -58kg category takes place on 20th August 2008.

Silver for Morrison and Rhodes

Morrison and Rhodes won SilverSailing2007 champions, Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes had to settle for the silver medal at the 49er World Championship, in Melbourne, Australia.

Morrison and Rhodes had been level with the Australian team at the start of the medal race, but completed the final race in third place, behind the Australian crew.
