Daley and Waterfield win individual medals

DivingWaterfield wins World Series BronzeTom Daley won the Silver medal and Pete Waterfield took Bronze in the 10m platform diving at the platform diving at the Fina Diving World Series in Sheffield, England.

Daley took the early lead with a high scoring first dive, but China’s World Champion Huo Liang went to the top of the leaderboard with a great performance in his third dive (an armstand back triple somersault) whilst Daley slipped into second place having over-rotated on his inward three-and-a-half somersaults dive.

In the fourth round, Waterfield moved into second place with the back three-and-a-half somersaults.

Daley fought his way back into the silver medal position, producing hardly a ripple in the water on his fifth round dive, the back three-and-a-half somersaults.

Liang claimed the gold medal, while Daley won Silver just ahead of team-mate Waterfield. Cuba’s Jeinkler Aguirre finished in fourth.

Day 15The 10m individual platform diving takes place on the 23rd August 2008.
