Bradley Saunders wins AIBA bronze

BoxingLight welterweight (64kg) Bradley Saunders won a bronze medal at the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Chicago, United States. Saunders lost to the Russian, Gennady Kovalev 8:16 in the semi-final bout. After five contests in eleven days, Saunders can now look forward to competing in Beijing.

Saunders reached the semi-finals with victories over;
  • Boris Katalinic of Croatia 23:12
  • Gumersindo Carrasco Perrera of Argentina (third round stoppage with score at 27:7)
  • Javier Molina of the USA (24:12)
  • Alexis Vastine of France (30:13)


Day 15The finals of the Light welterweight division take place on the 23rd August 2008.
