Ayrton and crew win Gold

SailingAyrton wins World Championship goldBritain's Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson won the gold medal in the Yngling class at the World Sailing Championships, in Cascais, Portugal. But it nearly ended in disaster when Wilson fell from the boat. Shirley Robertson, who skippered the boat, with Ayton and Webb onboard, to gold at Athens, finished third with her new crew, but only one team can take part in the Olympic regatta.

Day 8Ten countries (Great Britain, United States, Netherlands, Russia, New Zealand, Spain, Germany, Australia, Finland and South Africa) qualified to participate in the 2008 Olympics in Qingdao, China. The five remaining slots will be determined at the Yngling Class World Championship next year in Miami, USA (9-15 February 2008).

The medal round of the Yngling class at the Olympics takes place on 16th August.
