

Britain's Ed Wright went into the Finn medal race at the
Sailing World Championsghips in fourth place with seven sailors in with a chance of a medal, but finished eighth place to end the regatta in sixth place overall. It was enough to earn Great Britain a boat in the Olympic Regatta, but whether he will have to hope for selection ahead of current Olympic Finn champion Ben Ainslie, who was unable to compete because of America's Cup commitments.

Nineteen countries (Spain, Netherlands, Slovenia, Denmark, Great Britain, Greece, Sweden, Australia, Croatia, Canada, Finland, France, New Zealand, Poland and United States) qualified to participate in the 2008 Olympics in Qingdao, China. The six remaining slots will be determined at the Finn Class World Championship next year.
The medal round of the Finn class at the Olympics takes place on 16th August.
