The days of Britain dominating the middle-distance through the likes of Coe, Ovett and Cram are long gone. Last year, Sam Ellis won a Bronze at the European Championships. This was the first European medal since Tom McKean won Gold in 1990. The last British medal at World level was Peter Elliott at the Seoul 1988 Olympics.Form

Qualification
As yet, the qualification standards have not been decided for Beijing, but all the athletes on the World Class Podium programme should qualify, but, on current form, are probably unlikely to feature amongst the medals.
What to watch
We'll be at the Olympic stadium for some of the athletics, but whether we see the men's middle distance events will depend on what other events occur on a specific day.
