Wiggins win World Championship Gold

Wiggins wins Gold in BeijingCycling - TrackBradley Wiggins won the the Individual Pursuit Gold medal at the World Championships in Manchester, beating Jenning Huizenga of the Netherlands in the final. Russia's Alexi Markov beat and Hayden Roulston (New Zealand) to take the Bronze medal.

Huizenga who went off fastestto take a lead of 7 tenths of a second. However, at the end of the first Kilometre, Wiggins was ahead by one tenth. Wiggins gradually extended his lead to just over a second at half distance. At the end of the third kilometre Wiggins was ahead by three seconds. Wiggins completed the 4 kiliometres in 4.18.519, with Huizenga on 4.23.474.

Day 8The Men's Individual Pursuit takes place on 16th August 2008.
