Tony Jeffries gets Beijing chance

Light Heavyweight (81kg) Tony Jeffries, qualified for Beijing by finishing in the last eight at the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Chicago, United States. Jeffries was beaten in the quarter-finals by Yerkebuian Shynaliyev of Kazakstan.

Jeffries advanced to the quarter finals with victories over;

• Daniel Kooij of the Netheralands (13:6)
• Chris Downs of USA (18:9)
• Ramazan Magomedov of Belarussia (18:6)

Jeffries will be hoping to raech the finals of the Olympic boxing competition on 24 August 2008.
