Men's 4 x 100 Bronze

Men's 4x 100 BronzeAthleticsBritains men's 4 x 100m squad won the bronze medal at the Athletics World Championships in Osaka, Japan.

The team of Christian Malcolm, Craig Pickering, Marlon Devonish and Mark Lewis-Francis produced the third-fastest ever run by a British team, clocking 37.90, just one-hundredth adrift of Jamaica and 0.12 short of gold medallists, United States in a truly top-class final. Slick baton changes put anchor, Lewis-Francis, in the second place coming into the final straight, but he just failed to hold off the 100m world record holder, Asafa Powell, in the race for the line.

The Women's 4 x 100m team of Laura Turner, Montell Douglas, Emily Freeman and Joice Maduaka narrowly missed out on a medal after a storming run. Slick change-overs and all out determination saw them come fourth in 42.87, with the gold going to the United States. Jamaica and Belgium snatched silver and bronze respectively.

The Men's 4 x 100m relay takes place on the 22nd August.
