The European Baseball Championships ended with the GB team surpassing all pre-tournament expectations to gain their best result in the modern era and collect the silver medals. Britain were unable to overcome the Netherlands, who won the European title for the fifth consecutive time and secured the only automatic Olympic qualification spot.
Britain have a second chance to qualify for the Baseball competition in Beijing, by finishing in the top three at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Spring 2008, where they will compete against seven other teams from around the globe.
The Baseball event takes place throughout the first 15 days of Olympic competition. The final is on the 22rd August. Baseball is making it's last appearance at the Olympics as it has been removed from the program for the 2012 Olympics,
