Richard Kruse fails at European Championships

Richard Kruse was a disappointing 33rd (of 79) in the Mens's Individual Foil competition at the Fencing European Championships in Ghent (Belgium). James Beevers was 17th and Laurence Halsted 22nd.

At the 2006 European Championships, in Izmir, Turkey Kruse had clinched silver.

The fencer has recently been selected as "Hopeful" on the Team Visa scheme, with additionally funding and support to help him prepare for the 2008 Olympic Games.

The Men's Individual Foil competition takes palce on 13th August 2008.
