Jon Hammond secures Olympic place at European Championships

Jon Hammond secured a rifle quota place for Great Britain at the Olympic Games by finishing fourth in the Men’s 50m Prone Rifle event at the European Shooting Championships, in Granada, Spain.

A new Personal Best score of 597 put the 1998 World Junior Champion into the ten-shot final, in equal second place. Marco De Nicolo retained his qualification lead to secure the title on 701.7. Artem Khadjibekov of Russia was second with 700.7, Espen Berg-Knutsen of Norway third on 700.6 with Hammond finishing on 700.0.

The Men’s 50m Prone Rifle event takes place on 15th August 2008.
