Men's Keirin

Chris Hoy won the Time Trial at Athens 2004Cycling - TrackAt Athens 2004 we saw Chris Hoy win the Gold medal in the Mens 1k Time Trial. Unfortunately, the event has been withdrawn from the Olympic programme to accomodate the addition of the BMX event.

Form

At the World Championships, Chris Hoy muscled his way to a superb gold in the Keirin, whilst an almost equally impressive Ross Edgar claimed bronze. Chris Hoy maintained his dominance of the 1k Time Trial disciplie by securing his fourth World Championship Gold.

    Qualification

    The Men's Keiran is a twenty-one competitor event, consisting of;

    • Winner of the event at the "B" World Championships (Cape Town, 26-28 July, 2007)
    • Winner of the event at the World Cup Series (Sydney, Beijing, Los Angeles and Ballerup, 11 November 2007 - 17 February 2008)
    • Winner of the event at the World Championships (Manchester, 27-30 March, 2008)
    • Eight riders based on the UCI Ranking.
    • Ten Riders, one rider from each qualified sprint team

    What to see

    The Men's Keirin on our Medal Chances list. We look forward to seeing Chris Hoy go for Gold in Beijing.
