Men's Individual Pursuit

Bradley Wiggins wins Gold at Athens 2004Cycling - TrackAt Athens 2004 we saw Bradley Wiggins win the Gold medal in the Mens Individual Pursuit. He went on to claim two further Olympic medals, in the Team Pursuit (Silver) and Madison (Bronze) to become Britains greatest ever Olympic Cyclist.

Form

Brad Wiggins still looks to be the man to beat. He recently won a gold in the Individual Pursuit final at the World Championships, when he lapped the German Robert Bartko in the final.

Qualification

The Men's Individual Pursuit is a sixteen competitor event, consisting of;
  • Winner of the event at the "B" World Championships (Cape Town, 26-28 July, 2007)
  • Winner of the event at the World Cup Series (Sydney, Beijing, Los Angeles and Ballerup, 11 November 2007 - 17 February 2008)
  • Winner of the event at the World Championships (Manchester, 27-30 March, 2008)
  • Five riders based on the UCI Ranking.
  • Eight Riders, one rider from each qualified pursuit team

What to see

The Men's Individual Pursuit is on our Medal Chances list. We look forward to seeing Wiggins go for Gold in Beijing.
