Field events

Steve Backley at Athens 2004Athletics Steve Backley was the field event athlete that came closest to a medal in Athens, when he finished fourth on the final day of competition. Backley has now retired and it looks like the best chance of a field event medal at Beijing 2008 lies with the men's triple jumping duo of Nathan Douglas and Philips Idowu.

What to watch

We'll be at the Olympic stadium for some of the athletics, but whether which field events we will see will depend on what other events occur on a specific day.
