Euan Burton has won a bronze medal at the World Judo Championships in Rio de Janeiro, BrazilBurton defeated Ryan Dill-Russell of New Zealand, Baye Diawara of Senegal, Christopher Kellyer of Switerzerland, Mario Valies of Colombia and fromer World Champion Guillame Elmont of the Netherlands, to win his pool, but lost in the semi-final to Antony Rodriguez of France.
In the bronze medal match, Burton beat Italy’s Giuseppe Maddaloni, the Sydney Olympic gold medallist. Burton's performance automatically an Olympic quota place for Britain.
Judo men's -81 category competition takes place on 12th August.
