Two Modern Pentathlon places secured

Eight qualification places for Beijing 2008 were available from the European Championships because of the high calibre of modern pentathletes in Europe.

But a top-eight finish doesn¹t guarantee a place on the flight to Beijing. Further qualification opportunities will follow, including at the World Championships and World Cup final and only up to two men and two women per country may qualify.

But there will be two British women modern pentathletes, as Heather Fell took silver and Katy Livingston finished sixth at the European Championships.

Georgina Harland, the bronze medallist at Athens 2004 produced the fastest run in the field, but it was only enough for 12th overall.

The Olympic Women's Pentathlon takes place on 22nd August 2008.
