ShootingRichard Faulds, Olympic Champion at Sydney 2000The British Shooting team have good medal prospects for Beijing. The GBTSF are determined to field a competitive team capable of winning two medals whilst providing the platform for a successful medal winning team in London 2012.

Qualification

Qualification for the 15 different shooting events at Beijing in 2008, is based on the results of the a number of competitions from the World Championships in 2006 through to competitions during the first few months of 2008. Good finishs tend to secure a place for a member of the Great Britain team, which is normally given to the shooter who has earned it.

Form

Great Britain currently has two quota places for Beijing 2008. Lesley Goddard earned the first quota place for the 2008 Olympic Games, with fourth place in the Women’s Trap event at the ISSF World Championships in Zagreb. Richard Faulds earned Great Britain a second quota place in the Men's Double Trap.

What to watch
At Athens 2004, we saw Richard Brickel in the Men's Skeet Qualifying. The girls did not appreciate the finer points of the sport, so I think that if there is a medal chance that I want to pursue, I'll be going on my own! That said, is was at the Markoulou shooting venue that the girls got to see an Olympic Gold medal!
