Road Cycling

Cycling - RoadNicole Cooke will be a favourite for the Road RaceThe 2006 World Cup champion Nicole Cooke is Britains biggest hope for a cycling medal on the road, having previously won the event theWorld Cup (an accumulation of points over a number of races) in 2003.

Qualification

Qualification for Beijing is a predominantly based on the Cycling World Tour. Tour points will determine the number of qualifies that Britain can enter in the Time Trial and Mass Start Road Races.

Form

Nicole Cooke has a Gold medal from the 2002 Commonwealth Games Road Race and a Bronze from 2006. Nicole has medalled three times at the annual UCI Road World Championships, gaining silver in 2005 and bronze in 2003 and 2006.

What to watch

The Ladies Road Race is one of our Medal Chance selections, so we will take place through the streets of Beijing. We will look to find a place on the route so that we can see the competitors come past.
