Three swimmers selected for Beijing 2008

Three swimmers have been pre-selected to the Beijing 2008 Olympic team. They earned the right to be selected for the Team GB, and avoid national qualification competition, after their podium performances at the Swimming World Championships.

Michael Harvey wins Taekwondo Silver

Michael Harvey won the Silver Medal at the Dutch Open to stake a claim to the Olympic place won by Tyrone Robinson at the European Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Tournament.

There were also medals for other competitors where Britain has Olympic places;

• Sarah Stevenson won gold in the -72kg category.
• Aaron Cook won bronze in the -78kg category.

Other medals went to;

• Louise Mair won gold in the -49kg category
• Adam Corrigan won silver -84kg category
• Davoud Etiminani won bronze –72kg category

The Taekwondo Men’s -58kg category takes place on 20th August 2008.

Daley and Waterman secure individual Olympic places

Tom Daley finished seventh in the 10m platform diving at the World Cup event in Beijing. This performance earned him a place in the event at the Olympics, alongside Athens 2004 silver medallist Peter Waterfield, who finished eighth in the competition.

The 10m individual platform diving takes place on the 23rd August 2008.

Diving bronze for Synchro youngsters

Tom Daley and Blake Aldridge won a bronze medal in the 10m synchronised platform diving at the World Cup event in Beijing. This performance earned Great Britain a place in the event at the Olympics.

2004 Olympic silver medallists Leon Taylor and Pete Waterfield will hope to take the place earned by the youngsters in a June competition.

The 10m synchronised platform diving takes place on the 11th August 2008.
