Wildwater World Champions goes Flatwater for Olympics

Britain's Jon Schofield won K1 kayak 500m sprint gold at the European Wild Water Championships in Bosnia. The 22-year-old Lancashirian posted the two fastest times of the event.

Unfortunately for Jon, Wild Water canoeing is not one of the two Olympic Canoeing disciplines, and so he has also been flatwater canoe racing in a bid to win Olympic gold.

Currently, he is forming a formidable partnership in the two-man kayak (K2), with Ben Brown to achieve GB selection. The final of the 500m event takes place on 23rd August 2008.
