Hoy wins Gold in Beijing

Chris Hoy struck Gold in the Men's Keirin at the Olympic Test Event in Beijing.

After winning in round 1, Chris beat French legend Arnaud Tournant to win in the second round and make the final where he continued to dominate the competition by winning the Keirin event for which he is the reigning World Champion.

Ross Edgar was unable to repeat his performance from Sydney. He finishing third in his heat and then third again in the repechages and so was out of the competition.

The Men's Keirin takes place on 16th August 2008.

Team Pursuit Gold in Beijing

Ed Clancy, Steve Cummings, Geraint Thomas and Paul Manning won Gold in the Men's Team Pursuit at the Olympic Test Event in Beijing.

Great Britain, Gold medallists at the first World Cup in Sydney, recorded the fastest time over the 4,000 metres, ahead of New Zealand and Denmark, despite two team changes.

In the final, the Great Britain team went even faster, completing in 4.02 to New Zealand's 4.05. The British team started fastest with a 1.04 opening kilometre, but it was back to level pegging at the half way stage. Team GB then accelerated away over the third kilometre to coast home in the final kilometre.

Romero takes Pursuit Silver

Rebecca Romero won a World Cup Silver in the Olympic Test Event in Beijing .

Romero finished second in qualifying to go to the final against Australian Katie Mactier. In the ride off for Gold however, Romero was unable to trouble the multiple medal winner and had to settle for Silver.

The Women's Pursuit takes place on 17th August 2008.

Team Sprint Bronze in Beijing

The British team won Team Sprint Bronze at the Olympic Test Event in Beijing

Chris Hoy, Craig MacLean and Jason Queally finished third fastest in qualifying to set up a Bronze medal clash against Australia.

Craig MacLean got the British off to a flying start to lead after the opening lap. The team extended their lead through the second lap, but the Aussies came back at them on the final lap. The Britsh squad held on by the skin of their teeth to win the the race by just over a tenth of a second.

The Gold medal went to the Netherlands who beat France in the final.

Wiggins takes Gold in Olympic Test

Bradley Wiggins got his Olympic preparations off to a great start by claiming the Individual Pursuit Gold medal at the Olympic Test Event in Beijing in the which is also the second round of the World Cup. Russia's Alexander Serov beat Taylor Phinney (USA) to rank in the third place.

World and Olympic Champion Bradley Wiggins defeated Volodymyr Dyudya of Ukraine to win the gold medal. In a close contest against the Sydney gold medal winner, Wiggins recorded a time of 4.25.316 to the 4.25.847 of his rival in a see-sawing battle.

Wiggins went out the quickest but then was slower than his rival over the next two kilometre splits before again coming home quickly, over a second quicker over the last kilometre, to win by almost half a second. With the times being significantly slower than those on other tracks, Wiggins was over 10 seconds slower than his personal best.

The Men's Individual Pursuit takes place on 16th August 2008.

Hoy wins Gold in Keirin

Chris Hoy won the Men's Keirin in the Sydney round of the World Cup. Ross Edgar finished second, ahead of multi world champion Theo Bos.

Team Pursuit Gold in Sydney World Cup

Ed Clancy, Stephen Cummings, Chris Newton and Bradley Wiggens won the Men's Team Pursuit in the Sydney round of the World Cup.

In the final against New Zealand, the British team of Ed Clancy, Bradley Wiggins, Chris Newton and Steve Cummings completed in 4.01 to beat the Kiwis by four seconds.
